“How can I be reasonable? To me our love was everything and you were my whole life. It is not very pleasant to realize that to you it was only an episode.”
— W. Somerset Maugham, The Painted Veil

It pleases me beyond words that my sisters have grown into the most beautiful, clever, and wickedly funny people I know. I sometimes wonder where it sprouted from..since often to me, they are my little baby sisters and it shocks me to see them grown. To have the realization that their beauty and cleverness sprouted from the same world as my own makes me infinitely sad and proud. The same demons that chase me often chase them. But they are also armed with the same arsenal of laughter as I. We are fighters, and we crack jokes as we fight.

The whole thing is like a jeweled coat, and I drop it down as if I've never worn it at all.

If I could feel this in my soul always I would be a better person. I know it.

Fuck those boots. Pay rent or go here. Uh duhhhh!
I want to have a party and I want to use these invitations.
These boots are going to haunt my fall/winter this year. They have already been stalking me and it's still August. Pay rent or buy boots? Don't kid.

I so firmly used to be a summer girl. The swim practice early mornings and meets all weekend, the sun and smell of chlorine, the Little House on the Prairie watched from my mom's bed after swim practice with little brown bags of candy. Playing all day and well into the evening on the golf course behind my house. Nights at our ranch house spent sitting on the porch. Summer has held such fantastic and magical memories for me. But now, as I grow older, and have moved further North, I truly love the winter. I wonder if this love for cold, still, crisp, and sometimes unforgiving weather is reflected by the type of person I have become. I would bet that more than a few folks could use the adjectives above to describe me.

Now if I had a vacation house...it would be a different story.
