Super Cute Sartorial

I'm not even sure if that's a real word I used above. Her haircut and feathers are just too stinking cute.

Bradley Castellanos-artist
Born in Hartford, Connecticut 1974. Uses oil, acrylic, photo collage, and resin on panel.

I saw these at a gallery in Chelsea-seriously mind-blowing. The detail, the colors, the subject matter-def a lottery find. These pics here don't really do him justice-you can't see the texture and layering here.

Go check him out: CGFA Caren Golden Fine Art at 539 W 23rd St NYC 10011
Bradley Castellanos The Divide
Feb 26-March 4, 2009

Gallery hours Tues-Sat 11 am-6pm

"Castellanos makes photocollages--he starts with intricately hand-cut large-format photographs. This defiling of the photograph with scissors is satisfying because it's so much easier to do this in a non-committal way, in photoshop, for free, with infinite capacity for do-overs. It's a gesture of Castellanos' commitment, but then he commits himself further. These shreds of photograph are then painstakingly mounted on masonite or some other kind of board, and then made part of an oil painting."-via Deborah Fisher

Art

Super rad art installation by Henrique Oliveira. He uses salvaged wood collected from the streets of São Paulo to create massive scale, site-specific installations with dense layers that twist, curve, bend, and split.

Henrique Oliveira’s first solo exhibition in the United States, will open at Rice Art Gallery, Houston, Texas on March 26, 2009.

Los Abrazos Rotos-Broken Embraces. Can't wait! Pedro Almodovar is one of my most favorite directors ever, ever, ever. And Penelope is seriously one of the best actresses I've ever seen in his films.
To go with the trash flump. This is what my boots end up looking like after 2 months kicking around the city except the bottoms are riddled with holes. These look sturdier, and they best be for that damn price.

Add it to the list. Springtime means new trash flump. Majorly bootworthy and casual.
